In light of Beyonce’s recent internet shutdown, again, with her latest music video set in New Orleans and brimming with images of Mardi Gras; it is only fitting that we invite you to The Shakedown’s Mardi Gras Party.
Comprised of band members from The Foreign Exchange, Peter Lamb and The Wolves, Orchestra Gardel and The Mint Julep Jazz Band, among others, The Shakedown is your one-way ticket to boogeydowntown. Performing classic dance covers from Ace’s How Long to Wilson Pickett’s In the Midnight Hour, you are sure to dance the night away. Check out a list of their dance covers here.
For this weekend’s sake, the Mardi Gras party will feature music from New Orleans funk and R n B. The Shakedown will pull from the music of The Neville Brothers, Allen Toussaint, Dr. John and The Meters, among others.
When: February 12th @ 8pm – 12am
Who: The Shakedown will be joined by Al Strong and his jazz ensemble
Where: Lincoln Theatre – Raleigh, NC
Why: Because everybody likes to get down with the get down every now and then, duh! And because part of the proceeds of the night will go to The Art of Cool Project, a Durham-based non-profit whose mission is to expand the jazz audience in the Triangle by presenting, promoting and preserving jazz-influenced music.
