We are happy to announce legendary jazz musician, Maceo Parker, as the headliner for our 2014 festival.
Maceo, a Kinston native, has a name synonymous with funky music and has played with many leaders of funk, including James Brown, George Clinton and Bootsy’s Rubber Band.
His collaborations over the years performing and recording have included Ray Charles, Ani Difranco, James Taylor, De La Soul, Dave Matthews Band and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. His timeless sound has garnered him a fresh young fan base and a familiar list of artists who sample his music, including: Busta Rhymes, 2Pac, Notorious BIG, En Vogue and Too Short.
Parker will perform with his full band on Friday night, April 25, 2014 at The Carolina Theatre. Tickets for this performance are only available right now by making a pledge to our Kickstarter campaign. Tickets for the festival will be 1-day passes (Friday or Saturday) and 2-day passes at a higher price than those listed here in the Kickstarter campaign. 1-day and 2-day passes include all performance venues (including The Carolina Theatre, Motorco, Pinhook, Casbah and PSI Theater at Durham Arts Council). All outdoor performances at American Tobacco and Durham Central Park are free to the public.
