Kamasi Washington

It takes a kind of artistic boldness to create a three-disc, three-hour, orchestral debut release, to say after ruminating in my head forever, I got a bunch of my friends together, worked solidly for a month, and here’s everything we made all at once. Nice to meet you! To say that this completeness of vision is the way to consume a work. Saxophonist/composer Kamasi Washington, previously best known for his work on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly before he became the talk of the town with his veritable Epic, is that bold an artist.  -Anthony Dean-Harris
