Our Artist of the Week is Jazz Bassist Ben Williams! His playing style is Crossover Jazz, Jazz-Funk, and Straight-Ahead Jazz. As an native of D.C., Ben Williams graduated from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. He then chose to further his education at Michigan State University while studying under renowned bassist Rodney Whitaker. In 2009, Williams won the notable Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition and inked a recording deal with Concord Records. After establishing himself as a well-polished musician Williams later released his solo debut album “State of Art” in 2011. He has exhibited his musicianship and performed worldwide with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Terrence Blanchard, Ron Blake, and Stefon Harris. In addition, Williams has performed with artists for opening acts such as John Legend, Kirk Franklin, and Eric Roberson. With these accomplishments and experiences under his belt we can’t wait to see Ben Williams perform for AOC fans this year!
